Hawaiiana Festival on Kaua'i surrounds
teaching and demonstrations about a variety of native Hawaiian cultural
practices such as wood carving, lauhala weaving, tapa-making, feather
arts, poi pounding, the art of kakau (tattoo), stone carving, lei making,
music, and dance. Many hands-on learning experiences. Hawaiian food and
entertainment is also planned, along with a film display of ancient
Hawaiian images, coupled with Hawaiian story-telling reconnecting the past
and present. A lu'au is also available on Oct 1. At the Grand Hyatt in

Eo E Emalani I Alaka'i Festival to
honor Queen Emma, who traveld to Koke'e in 1871. Live Hawaiian music and
craft demonstrations and sales. Queen arrives at noon, halau to dance hula
throughout the afternoon. Free! Starting at 10am in Koke'e State Park.

Garden Isle Artisan Faire over 40
local artisans showcase an array of handcrafted products from Kaua'i and

25th annual Matsuri Kaua'i, a Japanese
cultural festival at the Kaua'i War Memorial Convention Hall from
9:30am-3:30pm. Admission is free, and all are welcome. Activities and
demonstrations, including flower arranging, calligraphy, ink brush art,
oshie, pressed flower art, bonsai planting, folk music, martial arts, and
mochi making. Entertainment will include group dance and karaoke song
performances, taiko drumming, a mini-bon dance, and hula performed by a

11th Annual Lights on Rice Parade will
take place this year at 6:30pm on Rice Street in Lihu'e. Nearly 40
spectacular lighted parade entries from all over the island. Come and eat
at various food booths, shop at the Kaua'i Museum craft fair, and check
out the Festival of Lights at the historic County building. It is free and
