Does Your Pet Have to be Quarantined? Quarantine Update The Kauai Humane Society, as of 12/1/2006, became a receiving, inspection and release services station for pets arriving from the mainland at Lihue Airport. Prior to that date, pets were required to be quarantined on Oahu for 120 days. Pets still are required to be quarantined on Kauai if you do not carefully plan and meet all the State Department of Agriculture rabies quarantine requirements. The good news is, that if you do take care of the necessary “homework” before you travel to Kauai, you can in most cases take your pet “right off the plane” with you.
